WITNEY OXFORD TRANSPORT (WOT) – FOCUSSED ON DELIVERING REAL SOLUTIONS

The recent feasibility study shows that it’s time to bring a rail line into Eyrnsham, Witney and Carterton.

The Carterton—Witney—Eynsham—Oxford railway will improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, provide multiple environmental benefits, and boost the area’s economy.

These advantages include:

  • Fast, efficient and reliable transport
  • 70% journey time savings between Carterton and Oxford and nearly an hour saved on travelling between Witney and Oxford
  • New jobs and new opportunities
  • Reduction in carbon emissions
  • 1 million car miles saved a year

Inaction is not an option – the A40 will be 30 minutes slower by 2031 despite a £180 million investment. Can you afford to spend even longer in your car commuting to and from Oxford?

Why do the towns of Witney and Carterton need a railway?

The new route will significantly contribute to the area’s economic growth, providing much-needed business opportunities and improved services.

The proposed route

The proposed route has been sketched out, but there are several options, especially in and around Carterton. Our approach is for a phased build with a first section from the main Cotswolds rail line to the newly built Eynsham Park & Ride.
